Gossip: Man United, Man City, Bale and Mbappe…

BALE TO MANCHESTER UNITED…OF COURSE
It is a massive leap from ‘Gareth Bale suffered an amazing snub from Zinedine Zidane’ to the Welshman joining Manchester United for ‘upwards of £200m’ but it is a leap unashamedly made by The Sun’s Charlie Wyett. He also claims that Bale ‘would, however, have concerns over Old Trafford boss Jose Mourinho and his style of play’, but it is unclear whether that is just a guess.

What is clear is that Bale wants to look at his options outside of Real Madrid and that list of options is likely to be quite short; who can pay £650,000-a-week wages? It’s certainly true that United have loved him long time.

MBAPPE TO MAN CITY?
One club who could pay that kind of money would be Manchester City, but they are far more likely to opt for a younger alternative. That younger alternative could be Kylian Mbappe, with the Manchester Evening News claiming that ‘Manchester City are ready to compete for Kylian Mbappe if Paris St Germain are forced to abort their plan to sign him this summer’.

They do then say that City would ‘bridle’ at the idea of spending over £100m on one player, with Riyad Mahrez and Jorginho also likely to arrive for a combined £130m this summer, so are they ready to compete or not? Our guess etc etc.

NOW LIVERPOOL REALLY WANT A KEEPER
They wanted a keeper before but now – according to the Daily Mirror – they really want a keeper.

According to David Maddock: ‘Kop bosses planned to bring in a new keeper before Karius’ horror night, but now that search will intensify with Roma No.1 Alisson and Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid two of the most prominent names on their shortlist.’

The problem is that either of those two could cost £80m. Can you see Liverpool spending £80m on a keeper? Another name mentioned is Southampton’s Alex McCarthy, who would cost considerably less. But relations between Liverpool and their feeder club are not great.
