CITY HAND UNITED BRUNO BOOST
Manchester United didn’t have much to celebrate at the their end-of-season awards bash on Thursday night, when they attempted to the roll this turd of a season in glitter for the MUTV cameras while the rest of the big six were off playing football and achieving stuff this week. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s raging hangover after pounding shots at the bar – he probably didn’t but you wouldn’t blame him if he had – might be eased somewhat this morning, though, with the news that Pep Guardiola has reportedly done him a massive favour.
Earlier in the week, it seemed City we’re ready to get the deal done for Bruno Fernandes. Talks had been taking place between City and Sporting Lisbon and an agreement was said to be close. Now, The Sun tells us that Pep has changed his mind and is now cooling his interest in the attacking midfielder. Apparently, the recruitment of a defensive midfielder is now City’s priority. Can they not have both?
BARCA WILLING TO GET RID OF 10
Elsewhere, Barcelona are looking to flush their own turd in the shape of Philippe Coutinho. Thursday’s whispers suggested his days at the Nou Camp are numbered so, of course, United are seen as the potential patsy as Barca look to recoup £100m of the £142m Liverpool relieved them of almost two years ago.
That’s the claim of AS, which names Coutinho as among the 10 players either on their way out of Barca or considered ‘transferable’ by the Catalans.
Kevin Prince Boateng and Jeison Murillo will be off anyway after ‘enjoying a little holiday in Barcelona for the last six months’. Along with those two departing loanees, Thomas Vermaelen, Samuel Umtiti, Ivan Rakitic, Jasper Cillessen, Malcom, Rafinha and Denis Suarez are all up for grabs.
NEYMAR IN THE MOOD TO QUIT PSG
Barca may need the money if the latest reports around Neymar are to be believed. Apparently, the Brazilian is back in the mood to quit PSG.
Le10Sport backs up reports in Spain that suggest Neymar’s mood has turned. The world’s most expensive player was content to stay in Paris until recent weeks but now he fancies another move.
Where to? Real Madrid have other irons in the fire and though they have been linked with their former striker, Barca are unlikely to be all that amenable towards a player who was so keen to quit for PSG a couple of years ago.
AND THE REST
Eden Hazard wants to get his move to Real Madrid wrapped up as soon as possible, but Chelsea won’t sell for less than £100m… Arsenal target Nicolas Pepe is wanted by PSG… Another Arsenal target, Ayoze Perez, is also being chased by Inter Milan… Man Utd are open to selling Eric Bailly to Arsenal… Matthijs De Ligt’s move to Barcelona is being held up by agent Mino Raiola’s demands… Sheffield United are interested in Middlesbrough striker Britt Assombalonga.
