Manchester United’s centre-back du jour this Monday morning is Nikola Milenkovic. But, Ed Woodward…

Jose Mourinho went to watch the Fiorentina defender in international action for Serbia last week and the United boss has been most impressed with the scouting reports fed back to him about the 21-year-old. The problem is, he is not the only one.

Juventus are also keen on the former Partizan star, which puts Fiorentina in control and gives Woodward a problem. The Sun says United are willing to pay £30million for Milenkovic, but Fiorentina want another £10million on top of that.

Given Woodward looked at Mourinho’s list of experienced targets in the summer and decided they were no better than Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, Lord knows what the vice-chairman and former accountant would make of forking out for a player yet to make 60 senior starts.

Buoyed by the success of Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund are keen to pillage more English talent from the fringes of Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea’s squads.

Sancho made his senior England debut last week, with the 18-year-old taking the Bundesliga by storm with two goals and six assists in eight appearances, of which only two have been from the start.

Dortmund hope the success of the former City academy talent will convince more English youngsters to make the move to Germany. Apparently, they are keen on Chelsea’s Callum Hudson-Odoi, who has been restricted to 27 minutes in the Premier League, and Liverpool’s Bobby Duncan. Steven Gerrard’s cousin has yet to get anywhere near Jurgen Klopp’s first XI.

According to The Mirror’s exclusive, the German are also eyeing Phil Foden, though presumably they have already been warned that they would be pissing in the wind with any approach for City’s prize asset. Pep Guardiola has repeatedly told the 18-year-old that the will be given more time on top of the 16 senior appearances that have already come his way and Foden has no urge to leave his boyhood club.

One player who Foden most likely won’t have fight for a place in the City XI is Adrien Rabiot.

The PSG midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season, with a host of big clubs looking at a potential bargain. Barcelona are keen, while Liverpool and City have all been linked with the 23-year-old.

But, according to Canal +, PSG have recognised the importance of Rabiot and the academy graduate, who is represented by his mum, is now close to signing a new contract.

Well played, Mrs Rabiot. Well played.
