HERRERA READY TO QUIT UNITED
The player who apparently ‘gets’ Manchester United now wants to get the hell out of there.
Ander Herrera is not a happy Basque bunny because United are yet to come to the table with any kind of offer to extend his contract, which expires at the end of the season.
United triggered a 12-month option on his original four-year contract penned when he arrived from Athletic Bilbao in 2014. Herrera presumed a longer term deal would quickly follow, but Ed Woodward seemingly has other things on his mind. Noodle partners don’t just find themselves, you know…
According to Metro, Herrera feels his loyalty is being taken for granted and the midfielder, who will be 30 at the start of next season, is willing to listen to offers to leave in January, which is exactly what Paul Pogba wants to do, if there is any truth in the whispers on Sunday.
Herrera isn’t the only United player in the final year of his contract. Luke Shaw, Ashley Young and lovely Juan Mata are also approaching the end of their terms.
VILLA AND TERRY WANT REUNION
Steve Bruce is in a pickle. Aston Villa lie 12th in the Championship having not won for four games. He has only one senior centre-back and unless something changes, he might have to dust off his own boots.
But, apparently, John Terry is here to save the day. The former Chelsea captain left Villa at the end of last season when Tony Xia’s regime were reaching down the back of the sofa looking for loose change to pay the wages. Now, with Villa on a firmer financial footing, Bruce wants the club to sanction a return for the 37-year-old who played 36 games last season.
If Villa do pick up the phone, it seems they would receive a favourable response. The Birmingham Mail has highlighted a poll set by a Villa fan on Instagram asking: “Would John Terry come back if he was asked to?”
At the prospect of swooping in to save the day, Terry himself voted ‘yes’.
AND THE REST
