Gossip: Man Utd to spend £180m on two forwards?

NUNO FOR ARSENAL?
The real surprise is that it has taken this long for Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo to be linked with a bigger job, so the Daily Mail’s exclusive claim that he is the ‘leading candidate’ to replace Unai Emery at Arsenal makes total sense. You see, Sam Allardyce, it’s not about winning trophies but consistent achievement with a style that could translate to a bigger club and better players.

Santo is of course closely linked with Jorge Mendes, who has a long-standing relationship with Arsenal’s head of football Raul Sanllehi, so there may be some serious 2+2 work going on here. But this time it might just make 4. This link makes more sense than most.

AUBA OUT?
This is hardly a surprise either. This is not what he signed up for. He is absolutely completing his side of the bargain with a whole barrel-load of goals while Arsenal falter, so talk of interest from Europe’s bigger clubs is almost inevitable. And that interest will and should be welcomed by the Gabon striker who would love one crack at the proper big time.

Barcelona are said to be ahead of Real Madrid in a race that could lead to a move next summer as Aubameyang refuses to talk about a new deal and desperately try to avoid an Aaron Ramsey situation with the prospect of their £57m leaving for nothing in 2021.

HAALAND MOVE IN JANUARY?
Manchester United are reluctant January buyers but The Times claim that they are willing to make an ‘exception’ for Erling Haaland, who has scored 23 goals already this season in all competitions. The bidding is expected to start at £60m but could end up closer to £80m.

Meanwhile, the Daily Telegraph claim that Manchester United believe they are the ‘front-runners’ to sign Jadon Sancho next summer despite interest from Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid. Perhaps they are the only ones willing to pay £100m for a winger who is not yet the finished product.

AND THE REST
Jorge Jesus is being linked with Everton…while West Ham are also said to be interested in David Moyes…Tottenham are targeting Schalke goalkeeper Alexander Nubel…Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall is being linked with Arsenal.
