UNITED TO PAY SANCHEZ TO GO
Manchester United’s players have apparently been told to report to Carrington the day after their final game of the season, which seems like standard practice, to be honest. But, according to the Daily Mail, Alexis Sanchez will be told: “Here’s £13million, now f*ck off.”
The story goes that United have accepted that they will have to pay the Chilean flop to leave the club, with no one else in their right mind likely to offer him the same salary he currently enjoys at Old Trafford. A loan exit seems most likely, and though the prospect of paying Sanchez £250,000 a week to play for another club, Ed Woodward and his cronies see it as the best way to free up further space on their wage bill ahead of a summer of sweeping changes at United.
The Red Devils would rather ship Sanchez off abroad, but even if they subsidise half of his wage packet, it is difficult to imagine a long queue forming for the 30-year-old.
What would United do with their savings? Some of it might be heading Juan Mata’s way.
Lovely Juan is out of contract this summer but the Manchester Evening News reports that the club have made a final offer of a one-year deal with the option for a further 12 months.
DE LIGT PONDERS OPTIONS AWAY FROM BARCA
United would also love to shift some of those funds in the direction of Matthijs De Ligt. The Ajax defender looks set for a big move this summer and though Barcelona remain heavy favourites to win the race for the 19-year-old, the deal is not yet done.
Mino Raiola would prefer to place De Ligt at Old Trafford, presumably because the agent reckons he can pull Woodward’s pants down once more. But Barca are wary that the central defender could earn far more by moving to United.
De Ligt, though, apparently has eyes for another club. According to Bild’s Christian Falk, the Holland defender quite fancies Bayern Munich and the choice will come down to Bavaria or Barca, regardless of how rich United can make his agent.
