LIVERPOOL EYEING MBAPPE
‘Jurgen Klopp has made contact with Kylian Mbappe’s agents,’ begins the story in the Daily Mail and we immediately think ‘woah there, we hope there has been no mention of Blackpool’. This is massively ambitious though, with Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal among the richer clubs interested in the French teenager.
Perhaps on their side, though, is the fact that Mbappe has made it clear that he wants to join a club where he will not sit on the bench. And at Liverpool he would undoubtedly play. Just don’t send him any video messages or take him on the Revolution.
The bad news is that L’Equipe claim that PSG are leading the race.
WHO WANTS JAMES TODAY?
On Sunday it was all about Arsenal ‘plotting a spectacular move’ for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez but reports in Spain were busy saying that Chelsea are leading the race for the Colombian. With Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas both leaving, there is money being made available for fancy new signings.
But AS claim that Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus are all interested in James, who wants reassurances about getting first-team football after playing third or fourth fiddle at Real Madrid.
FABINHO TO MAN UNITED
After announcing the signing (pretty much) of Victor Lindelof, Manchester United are motoring. It looks like Monaco midfielder Fabinho will be the next man through the door. Everybody agrees that this is the next tick on Jose Mourinho’s wish-list.
The Independent claims progress is being made on the deal, while reports in France suggest that Fabinho does not want to move anywhere but Manchester United, while O Jogo says that the deal is close. The fee? Something close to £50m.
