ARSENAL TRIO FOR SALE AT ANY PRICE
This sounds mental but according to the Daily Express: ‘No reasonable offer looks likely to be refused for Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, and Jack Wilshere – no matter how Arsene Wenger feels about it – if they don’t pen new deals.’ It is difficult to imagine Arsenal selling all three for less than £50m when those sales are likely to scupper any hope of claiming a place in next season’s Champions League, but who are we to question? Yeah right, we live to sodding question.
Ozil is the one that might indeed be sold – but only to Barcelona and not to Manchester United, as that would be suicide. The Express say: ‘According to media sources in Spain Wenger will only let him go in January to a European club like Barcelona rather than a Premier League rival like United.’ So reasonable offers would be refused then?
MAN UNITED ‘MONITORING’ ROSE
Realistically, this is just a regional football website (in this case, the Manchester Evening News) extrapolating a story to give their club a news update, but we always struggle on a Monday morning for gossip so we are happy to gobble up their claim that Manchester United have received a ‘transfer boost’ because Danny Rose was once again left out of Tottenham’s match-day squad.
‘The Doncaster-born defender has never disguised his thirst to return to the north of England and United continue to monitor developments,’ they say. And we heard this weekend that Bologna left-back Adam Masina could be a Tottenham target if that switch happens in January.
MAN CITY EYEING MARTINEZ
No, not that Martinez. Or even that Martinez. But Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez (26), who was apparently a target for Manchester City in the summer (back when we thought they needed new centre-halves). The Sun now exclusively claim that City ‘have continued to monitor his performances for Sociedad during the first few months of the season’.
City are currently missing the injured John Stones and are now reliant on Vincent Kompany not falling apart, which is a dangerous game. The Sun go on to say that should City decide they need reinforcements, ‘Martinez looks likely to come into the reckoning – particularly as he can also play at left-back’. Maybe he can play at left-back, but we are not sure he ever actually has.
AND THE REST
PSG have made contact with Nice’s Ivory Coast midfielder Jean Seri, 26, over a possible move…Liverpool’s Serbia midfielder Marko Grujic will leave Anfield on loan in January but only for another English club
