KOP CALLING FOR RABIOT
Not content with having spent around £100million on central midfielders in the summer, Jurgen Klopp wants another. And it’s one he’s been trying to get his hands on for a while…

Adrien Rabiot is in the final year of his contract with PSG and there is expected to be a long line of clubs keen to take the 23-year-old on a free. Liverpool, though, are jostling for position at the front of that queue and, according to ESPN, Klopp has already been on the phone to the Frenchman he has followed closely since trying to sign him for Borussia Dortmund.

Rabiot was presumably passed the phone by his mum, who also acts as his agent. Mrs Rabiot will be a busy woman in the coming months because Barcelona are also extremely keen on her boy, with the La Liga champions having tried to sign him during the summer.

That never happened because PSG are extremely reluctant to lose Rabiot, who has scored 23 goals in 212 appearances for the French giants. But Liverpool can tug at the midfielder’s heartstrings. Last October, he told RMC: “I would love to play in the Premier League, not necessarily one club in particular, even though I was very fond of Liverpool when I was young.”

POGBA AND MOURINHO CALL TRUCE
Another France midfielder on Barcelona’s wanted list is Paul Pogba. You may have heard of him…

The World Cup winner was agitating for a move out of Manchester United during the summer and it has been suggested he will do the same in January. The Mirror, though, suggests that is not longer the case.

Pogba and Jose Mourinho are said to have called a “truce”, though David McDonnell says the record signing “still has issues” with the manager. That feeling is presumably mutual.

Pogba, apparently recognises that he will not be allowed to quit Old Trafford until next summer at the earliest and the story makes the comparison with United’s agreement with Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 when he was told he could leave after one more year of service. The obvious difference is that Ronaldo was winning Ballon d’Ors and World Player of the Year awards back then. United would be happy just get a couple of half-decent performances out of Pogba at the moment.
