Gossip: Pogba has agreed deal to leave Manchester United
BAKAYOKO OFF TO MILAN…
It really hasn’t gone well for Tiemoue Bakayoko at Chelsea. He was sound for £40m, never impressed in his first season, saw the manager who bought him get sacked and then the new manager bring his favourite midfielder with him.
By now, the best thing for Bakayoko might just be to get out of Dodge and pretend this whole thing never happened. According to Sky Italia, that might be exactly what happens. They report that Milan have made an offer to loan Bakayoko, with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Bakayoko did not even make the bench for the Community Shield despite having the summer off. That’s hardly a subtle hint from Maurizio Sarri.
…BUT KOVACIC IN
But before Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek get all excited about finally getting regular Premier League minutes, we’re here to pull the rug from under their feet. It looks more and more likely that Mateo Kovacic is arriving from Real Madrid.
Reports suggest that Chelsea are in talks over a loan deal for Kovacic which would last until the end of the season. Chelsea would like to have an option to buy Kovacic, but Real Madrid are apparently resisting that element of the deal.
Kovacic would presumably play with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in Sarri’s 4-3-3, which leaves Loftus-Cheek angrily pushing for a loan move if he has anything about him.
BOATENG REJECTS MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United’s search for a central defender goes on. On Tuesday afternoon, Claude Puel repeated his insistence that Harry Maguire cannot be sold this summer.
More bad news then came on Tuesday evening, when Sport Bild’s Christian Falk reported that Boateng has said thanks but no thanks to Jose Mourinho.
Exclusive: @JB17Official Jerome Boateng called José Mourinho to tell him personally that he is grateful for the interest, but he won’t come to Manchester. No Transfer to @ManUtd @SPORTBILD @BILD_Sport

Is it Toby Alderweireld or nothing?
AND POGBA MAKES HIS EXIT STRATEGY
You have to say that if Jose Mourinho has annoyed Paul Pogba with his post-World Cup comments, it was a particularly dim thing to do. Mourinho has relevant points when criticising Manchester United for their lack of ambition this summer, but not making one of your best players want to leave through petty point-scoring is also a good idea.
The Daily Mail have a whopping exclusive on Wednesday, claiming that Pogba has told his Manchester United teammates that he wants to leave for Barcelona and has agreed a £350,000-a-week contract at the club.
That’s all very well, but Manchester United still have to accept an offer. That isn’t going to happen while Barca are offering £45m plus Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.
