LA LA LAND
Adam Lallana has been struggling to feature regularly for Liverpool this season with the Reds shooting out the blocks to go eight points clear at the top of the Premier League. The 31-year-old did score an important late equaliser to salvage a draw on the road at arch-rivals Manchester United in October but that substitute appearance was one of only five this term in the Premier League.
The England international is out of contract in the summer and can negotiate a move to a foreign club in January. And the Daily Mirror claims that Lallana is ‘on the radar’ of Paris Saint-Germain. Edinson Cavani’s departure to LA Galaxy has ‘opened up an opportunity for Lallana’. The report adds that Liverpool could use his £7million-a-season to help fund a move for Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser with Scotland international asking for £100,000-a-week.
THE MEGA SWAP
Gareth Bale ‘could be a Manchester United player as early as JANUARY’ writes Phil Thomas in The Sun. Bale’s proposed transfer to Chinese club Jiangsu Suning collapsed in the summer amid widespread speculation his six-year stay in Spain was about to end. The Red Devils have been linked with the forward on and off over the last couple of years and now The Sun reckon it could finally happen in January.
It has been a controversial week, with Bale joining up with Wales for their Euro 2020 qualifiers despite not being fit to play for Real Madrid over the last month. And Los Blancos are ‘willing to let Bale go’ with sources telling The Sun that ‘they knew United were keen’ in the summer, leading to the collapse of the Jiangsu Suning deal as they want a fee for the Welshman. Bale ‘is ready to call time on his LaLiga career’ and the Spanish club will ‘use him as leverage to bring’ in Paul Pogba.
This deal could rumble on until the summer if United aren’t prepared to ‘do business in January’ and Bale ‘knows’ he needs to reduce his wages to join Man Utd.
