Gossip: Rashford, Lindelof, ‘new Ozil’ (but not)

Oh, now then. This is potentially a big steaming pile of guff. Real Madrid are apparently monitoring Marcus Rashford. We’ll say what we always say here: Every big club is ‘monitoring’ every wonderkid. That’s how scouting networks work.

The Sun and the Daily Express both report Spanish website diariomadridista’s (nope, us neither) claim that Real Madrid have sent scouts to watch Rashford before considering a stunning offer for the forward. They say Rashford is ‘in the crosshairs’ of Real.

He’s just signed a new deal until 2020, is still growing as a player and needs first-team football. Have you seen Real Madrid’s front three?

We’re mercifully moving away from all that now in order to jolly off to Portugal, and newspaper A Bola. They claim that Manchester United and Chelsea will go against each other for the signing of Victor Lindelof.

Lindelof is a defender for Benfica, and we know how many defenders have been linked to Manchester United and Chelsea since the transfer window closed.

A Bola say that Juventus, Napoli and Paris St Germain are also interested in a player who has a release clause of £26m.

Arsenal have apparently made enquiries about Swedish midfielder Peter Gwargis, according to the player’s agent.

Gwargis plays for Husqvarna, is 16 years old and has already been labelled as the ‘new Mesut Ozil’. By his agent.  Of course he bloody has.

‘Both Arsenal and PSV have sent invitations, but now Feyenoord are the most interested,’ Gwargis’ agent Walid Faour said. ‘I’m in Holland right now for a visit to Feyenoord with Peter Gwargis.

‘Peter has trained with both Under-17 and Under-19s. This is a left-footed offensive football player who many here believe will be a new Ozil.’

Now listen here. This kid hasn’t even played for Husqvarna’s first team yet. This agent needs slapping in the face with a wet fish.
