REAL TO MAKE £500M PREMIER LEAGUE RAID
Real Madrid have been largely rubbish this season and they now sit 19 points off Barcelona. The natural reflex of Florentino Perez is to chuck a load of money at a problem, and that’s apparently what he plans to do in this instance too.
That could be bad news for the Premier League, or more specifically, Tottenham, Man Utd and Chelsea.
The Daily Mail claim Real have set their sights on Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and David De Gea, with the loose figures being chucked around totalling £500million.
The story says Perez is willing to break the world transfer record perhaps twice, with £200million each set aside for Hazard and Kane. United will receive a bid of £100million for De Gea.
Of those three stars, Perez is said to be most sceptical about landing Kane, who Real accept may be difficult to tempt away from Spurs given his ties to the club and the prospect of leading them back to their rebuilt home at White Hart Lane.
Having had their fingers burned on De Gea before, Real’s back-up option is Thibaut Courtois, who will be entering the final year of his contract at Chelsea and has always given the impression he would crawl back to Spain for a return to La Liga.
REAL WON’T STOP THERE…
Not content with trying to steal their best player from Spurs, Real also want to relieve them of their manager away too.
The Daily Mail says Real are keen to replace Zinedine Zidane with Mauricio Pochettino and contact with the Argentinian’s associates has already been made.
Real believe Pochettino may be tempted by the propect of taking over at the Bernabeu, especially given he has has ruled out ever managing Barcelona. Tottenham, though, will fight anyone who tries to take their boss.
Apparently, Daniel Levy is well aware that the future of Tottenham’s stars hinges largely on their manager, so the chairman is more than willing to take on Perez should he come calling. Which is something we all want to see…
UNITED WILLING TO TRIGGER NAPOLI DEFENDER’S BUY-OUT CLAUSE
A new name being linked with Man Utd today: Napoli defender Faouzi Ghoulam.
The story goes that United are willing to fork out the £52.6million required to trigger the release clause for the left-back who has also been linked with PSG.
That is the word according to RAI Sport. Ghoulam, 26, was linked with Manchester City last summer before the Algeria international signed a new deal with Napoli until 2022.
If this is just his agent looking to get his client another pay-rise, then his timing sucks because Ghoulam has been sidelined with a knee ligament injury for nearly three months and he isn’t expected back until next month.
