Hoo boy. Having seen David Moyes given the job at West Ham despite being absolutely rotten at Sunderland last season, we can’t quite believe that another ageing British manager is going to be paid an awful lot of money. Where is the f*cking imgination?

The Sun report that Sam Allardyce is to be paid £100,000 a week by Everton and demand that Craig Shakespeare is made his assistant manager. Do you think that people will moan about Sean Dyche not being given a chance and having his path to the top blocked by old, British managers? No, us neither.

Everton are not going to go down; they’re four points behind eighth. They do not need a firefighter, just a manager who gets on with the players and can improve morale. And yet they are going to go down this route.

At this time of year, you really can’t beat a trip to Spain for a dose of glorious bullsh*t. We will start with Don Balon, and their claim that Manchester United will let David de Gea join Real Madrid on the proviso that they can have Raphael Varane.

Now we’re not saying this is guff, but why on earth would Manchester United let it be known that they would sell De Gea. It immediately reduces his value.

Sticking with the guff, and El Gol Digital (us neither) has truly gone balls out on Tuesday morning. They claim that Atletico Madrid want to sign Mohamed Salah in January. In their defence, it did make us actually laugh out loud.

Firstly, Atletico are already signing Diego Costa and Vitolo in January, so they really don’t have much more room for a forward. More importantly, El Gol Digital reckon that Atletico are prepared to offer £50m for Salah. That’s lovely, but he cost Liverpool £36m, signed a five-year deal at Anfield and has been brilliant since he did so. Are they sh*tting mad?

Two little nuggets about Arsenal:

– Talksport reckon that Arsenal are preparing a £10m bid for Besiktas midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup. They sold him for £400,000 five years ago.

– Mundo Deportivo claim that Arsenal are interested in Barcelona’s Rafinha, and have been boosted by news that the Brazilian fancies a move to England. He’s also gone completely off the radar at Barca, which probably means that this information has been leaked by his agent.

Chelsea target Alex Sandro will not be allowed to leave Turin… Newcastle could rekindle their interest in Hamburg’s Lewis Holtby… Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is wanted by Turkish side Besiktas… Danny Rose is determined to claim a place in England’s World Cup squad.
