OH SURE. NOW IT’S MANCHESTER CITY FOR SANCHEZ
The list of clubs who have supposedly been in the driving seat to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal grows longer and longer. First we had Juventus. Then we had Bayern Munich. Then we had Inter. Then we had Paris St Germain. Then we had Chelsea.
Now we have Manchester City, apparently. The Sun use claims from Chilean media – Cooperativa – to claim that Pep Guardiola wants a reunion with Sanchez for £50m. Sure.
‘City would also be able to complete the deal for a cut-price £50million, as the Chilean’s contract expires in summer 2018 and Arsenal will be keen to cash in,’ The Sun article says. Do they even know what cut-price means?
COSTA WANTS CHINA. AGAIN?
That’s the claim from The Sun, who say Diego Costa wants a move to China because England isn’t sunny enough. They also say he wants to move to Tianjin Quanjian, who Chelsea rejected a bid from in January.
‘As well as a £250,000-a-week pay packet, Tianjin can offer a steamy sub-tropical climate with summer temperatures of 40 plus degrees,’ The Sun tell us. We’ve looked at the average temperatures for Tianjin, and ‘40 plus’ is a push.
ARSENAL TO MAKE MOVE FOR JAMES RODRIGUEZ
It’s OK, Arsenal fans, no fear. Your club are definitely going to sign James Rodriguez this summer. Just so long as no other elite club want him.
The Daily Star use a story from Transfermarketweb to say that Arsenal have joined the race for the Real Madrid midfielder, who is also wanted by Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Liverpool and Juventus. Has there ever been a worse combination of spurious gossip outlets?
Anyway, we will only say what we have said about every other Arsenal transfer rumour in the last month: Arsene Wenger is omnipotent at Arsenal. Until his future is secured, no transfers will be prioritised.
WHY DO NO PREMIER LEAGUE CLUBS WANT TIELEMANS?
Youri Tielemans is going to be a bloody superstar, so it’s frustrating to hear the latest information about his potential next destination. The time has come for Tieleman, still only 19, to leave Anderlecht and move abroad.
L’Equipe report that Tielemans is closing in on a move to Monaco, with Atletico Madrid as his secondary choice. Given the way that Monaco team play and put faith in young players, can you really blame him?
The sad thing is that no English clubs are mentioned in the story, with Tottenham just one team previously considered to have likely interest in signing Tielemans. The Belgian has reportedly told his agent that he wants a move to club where he will be a regular starter. Clever boy.
AND THE REST
Crystal Palace have made the first move to land former England defender Glen Johnson on a free this summer from Stoke… Former Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka could be set for a swift return to the game by taking charge of Algeria… Manchester City are chasing Barcelona starlet Marc Cucurella… Arsenal have offered a permanent deal to Chilean trialist Marcelo Allende… Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will only entertain offers from Barcelona or Real Madrid.
