Gossip: Sanchez wants Chelsea, Shaw wants Spurs

SANCHEZ CHOOSES CHELSEA
But of course it will be Arsenal who decide whether they want to sell their best player to Chelsea, and the Daily Telegraph claim that the answer will be a big, fat ‘no’. They say that the Gunners ‘would rather let Sanchez enter the final 12 months of his contract than see him join Chelsea’. So it will be down to the Chilean to stamp his feet to secure his dream move, see out his final year with Arsenal, or join Juventus, PSG or a host of Chinese clubs who are interested.
Chelsea apparently want both Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku. Which is pretty bloody frightening. No wonder Gary Neville says that Manchester United need to buy half a team.
LUKE SHAW WANTS SPURS ESCAPE
‘LUKE SHAW wants Mauricio Pochettino to rescue him from his Old Traffold hell,’ says the back page of The Sun. Shaw has held clear-the-air talks with Jose Mourinho but it is only likely to lead to a brief impasse, with the left-back anxious to be reunited with his old Southampton manager.
There could be something of a left-back bric-a-brac sale this summer, with Danny Rose a target for Manchester City and Celtic’s Kieran Tierney being lined up as United’s long-term replacement for Shaw.
EXODUS AT MAN CITY
We are pretty sure we have been here before, but the Daily Telegraph are claiming that Manchester City expect to make £100m in player sales this summer. So who are the players on their way? Joe Hart, Samir Nasri, Eliaquim Mangala, Wilfried Bony and Jason Denayer are all out on loan so there will be no surprises there. But Fernando and Vincent Kompany are also considered surplus to requirements.
The report continues: ‘The futures of others, including Claudio Bravo, Aleksandar Kolarov and Nolito, will hinge on outside interest as well as Guardiola’s success at bringing new players in, with the Catalan eyeing up to seven new arrivals.’
We’re pretty sure all the sales ‘will hinge on outside interest’. City are expecting to raise £20m for Hart and £12m for Bony, while Mangala and Nasri are both valued at more than £20m. Quite who will pay £10m for Denayer is another matter, while Kompany and Fernando can presumably go for peanuts.
AND THE REST
Chelsea have intensified their search for a new right-back, with Andrea Conti of Atalanta and Hoffenheim’s Jeremy Toljan both on their radar…Leicester are worried Arsenal and Manchester United will lure Nigeria midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, 20 – dubbed the “new N’Golo Kante” – away from the King Power Stadium…West Ham could submit a £30m bid for Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere, who is on loan at Bournemouth. The Hammers are also interested in a loan deal for Chelsea and Belgium striker Michy Batshuayi…Liverpool are still hopeful of signing Bayer Leverkusen and Germany winger Julian Brandt.
