Manchester United have reached Dortmund’s £108million valuation for Jadon Sancho, but it’s still not enough…

Reports suggested Manchester United were trying a different tack to lure Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford. And it appears phase one has been successful.

The England international has agreed a £250,000-a-week contract with United, according to reports, while the agent fees have also been discussed.

The Guardian has also revealed that United made a £90million bid for Sancho in August, with a further £18million potentially being paid over three years through performance-related add-ons.

But Dortmund want the full £108million up front, and are determined to stick with their valuation after they saw Chelsea pay £70million for Kai Havertz.

United maintain that the valuation is unrealistic in the current financial climate, while Sancho has reiterated his desire to return to England over the last few weeks.

If a deal is to be done for the winger, Dortmund have made it clear they want a suitable replacement ready to join the club.

There is still a ways to go. But some actual progress has been made, it seems.

United’s Plan B could be a move for Gareth Bale. Hmmm.

Reports on Wednesday suggested Real Madrid has slashed the Welshman’s asking price and The Telegraph now claim the La Liga giants are also willing to pay half of his wages to seal his exit from the Bernabeu.

Bale has admitted he would consider a return to the Premier League, but thought it unlikely after Madrid “blocked everything at the last second” last summer, as he was about to complete a switch to play in China.

The 31-year-old earns a ridiculous £600,000-a-week in the Spanish capital and has two years remaining on his current deal.

But with Los Blancos now willing to subsidise those wages, a move to the Premier League is no longer completely out of the question.

Mikel Arteta is “in love” with Houssem Aouar

So much so, it seems, that Arsenal are willing to offer Lyon money for him that – by most accounts – the Gunners don’t have.

An initial £31.2 million bid was reportedly turned down by the French club, who have made it clear that they’re unwilling to sell the player for less than £54.5m.

Sporting director Juninho also revealed that they have rejected Arsenal’s proposal to include Matteo Guendouzi in any deal. Nice try.

Arteta will need to raise funds somehow, and Barcelona’s interest in Hector Bellerin may prove the best method of doing so.

Emilio Martinez, Rob Holding and Lucas Torreira have also been linked with moves away from the Emirates.
