Gossip: Solskjaer the only man for United; Zidane to Chelsea?

SEE BECAUSE ‘MAX’ IS SHORT FOR ‘MAXIMUM’ AND ‘ALLEGRI’ MEANS ‘MERRY’
Manchester United have not approached anyone else for the manager’s job, which is being seen as a major positive for current caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

ESPN FC report that the Norwegian has so impressed the United hierarchy with his record of 12 wins, two draws and one defeat that he has put himself ahead of Mauricio Pochettino and Max Allegri in the board’s thoughts.

We hope the latter didn’t have his heart set on the job or he’s going be so sad he has to change his name.

HE WAS NOT TAKING IT SERIOUSLY AND IT WAS COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL
Chelsea and Juventus are reportedly scrambling to secure Zinedine Zidane as manager, according to The Mirror.

Both Juve and the Blues (who seriously need to come up with a more interesting nickname, incidentally) want the three-time Champions League-winning manager to replace their current Italians, with Maurizio Sarri under pressure and Allegri looking for a new challenge.

The problem with the Chelsea link is that Zidane once did a Panenka in a World Cup final, so what kind of leader could he possibly be?

WHAT DO THEY CALL PEOPLE WHO MANAGE CARETAKERS?
The Sun reckon that Tottenham are getting rather antsy about the possibility of Pochettino having his head turned by Real Madrid.

Real reportedly made an approach for the Argentine last summer, but chairman Daniel Levy told them where to go.

Real have struggled since Zidane’s departure last summer: Julen Lopetegui didn’t even make it to Christmas, and while Santiago Solari impressed as a caretaker, he is now himself under pressure following recent defeats to Barcelona and Girona.

We’re beginning to think the biggest-name clubs should just have caretaker managers full time; they seem to be a lot better.

AND THE REST
Chelsea have re-opened contract talks with Eden Hazard…Manchester United (still) want Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kalidou Koulibaly and Ivan Rakitic…they’re also considering whether or not to extend the contract of Antonio Valencia, 33…Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is more likely to join Milan or Inter than Manchester United or Real Madrid….Arsenal are on alert over Cengiz Under of Roma, or possibly under Cengiz Over.
