SPURS QUARTET TO GO IN JANUARY?
The words used by the Daily Star are ‘squad shake-up’ and there are four players who could leave in that ‘shake-up’, with Eric Dier, Serge Aurier and Victor Wanyama all said to be ‘at risk’, while they will ‘listen to offers’ for Real Madrid target Christian Eriksen, so has been seven shades of sh*te for most of this season.
So who will come in? The only names mentioned are Juventus forward Paulo Dybala – though he has started top-of-the-table Juve’s last four Serie A games so how likely is he to choose a fight for Champions League places with Spurs? – and Nice right-back Youcef Atal.
EVERTON TARGET DEMBELE
Well they definitely need goals, though simply picking a striker and sticking with him might be an idea for Marco Silva. According to Football Insider, their January target is Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, who has scored six goals in eight games so far this Ligue Un season and has been strongly linked with Manchester United.
According to this report, Everton ‘will have been encouraged by his omission’ from Lyon’s starting XI at the weekend, but that would only be encouraging if you didn’t know that Lyon have now sacked their manager and the new manager will presumably return to playing Dembele up front.
Anyway, the price of £40m is mentioned.
LONGSTAFFS IN DEMAND
Newcastle are ‘stepping up their efforts’ to tie down Matty and Sean Longstaff to new deals after they starred in Sunday’s 1-0 win over Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.
Matty is an ‘urgent case’ as he earns just £1,000 a week from a deal that expires at the end of the season, while Sean is on £8,000 a week and is in line for a sizeable pay rise because Manchester United are eyeing a £30m move. United coach Michael Carrick added to the speculation by calling him a “fantastic talent” on Monday.
AND THE REST
Crystal Palace want a striker and two full-backs in January…Newcastle want Nottingham Forest man Joe Worrall…Wilfried Zaha has begun legal action against his agent for failing to get him a move away from Palace…Barnsley are close to sacking Daniel Stendel.
