Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly ready to go to war this summer with Gareth Bale eyeing a Premier League return. Course they f**king are.

Bale was linked with a move back to England last year before deciding to remain at Real, but Benitez’s exit has left his future in the Spanish capital unclear once again. Italian media outlet Tuttomercatoweb claims that Bale has now set his sights on a sensational transfer to either Manchester United or Manchester City with Zidane lining up a bid for Chelsea exile Eden Hazard.

The report adds that Real are still keen for Bale to remain at the Bernabeu, with club chiefs putting together a new contract that would tie Bale down until 2021.But Bale’s representatives are believed to be working on a deal which would see Bale link up with either Jose Mourinho or Pep Guardiola for the upcoming Premier League campaign.

How can we best describe how we feel about this rumour? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Another week, another Premier League club linked with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. We’ve had Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and West Ham, and now it’s Southampton.

The Daily Mirror’s John Cross has the scoop, claiming that Southampton want to make Oxlade-Chamberlain their highest-paid player this summer, and also offer him the vice-captaincy. It’s the big job everyone wants.

We did enjoy this line: ‘It would also underline Southampton’s ambition and determination to keep Ronald Koeman at the club this summer.’ Have we forgotten how badly Oxlade-Chamberlain has been playing and how much he’s been injured?

Tottenham and West Ham are eyeing a move for Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson, according to a report in The Sun.

Wilson, 24, made his return from eight months out with a knee injury with a late cameo in Bournemouth’s 2-1 win at doomed Aston Villa on Saturday.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino and Hammers counterpart Slaven Bilic are both eyeing summer swoops for the former England Under-21 striker, with both clubs holding a long-term interest in the player, who scored 23 goals last season to fire the Cherries into the Premier League.

Wilson scored five times in seven games before suffering the injury in September. Pochettino wants Wilson as cover for top-scorer Harry Kane while Bilic believes the former Coventry striker can bolster his side’s attack.
