SO INTER YOU
After the Tuttosport claims that Tottenham are ‘betrothed’ to Ivan Perisic comes the Calciomercato rumour that Inter Milan ‘are returning to the track of ‘ Moussa Sissoko.
The Frenchman has been in fine form this season as Tottenham have struggled with injuries, but they are still ‘looking to offload him in the summer’.
Any Sissoko sale would be designed to increase funds ‘to bring in a new signing’, with Donny van de Beek of Ajax, soon-to-be free agent Adrien Rabiot and Valencia’s Carlos Soler all mentioned.
The story seems to be based on complete and utter speculation (I know, we’re shocked too), as Calciomercato simply add Spurs ‘may need to sell Sissoko’ if they wish to sign any of the aforementioned three. But with the gossip column putting 2+2 together, and with the initial Tuttosport story suggesting the possibility of a Spurs and Inter swap, would an exchange involving Perisic and Sissoko not make more sense?
MIDDLE MEN MUDDLE
Elsewhere in north London, Arsenal are still ‘open to offers’ for professional money drain Mesut Ozil, whose position at the club ‘is increasingly becoming untenable’.
The Daily Telegraph say that the situation has escalated to the point that ‘intermediaries’ are working to find the German a new club. Matt Law says ‘there is no suggestion’ said intermediaries are working on Arsenal’s behalf, but that they ‘have strong links to China and Italy’.
Ozil’s wages are still proving a problem but ‘middle men have been sounding out clubs over his potential availability’. They are not only looking for clubs ‘that are potentially willing and able to sign Ozil,’ but also for ‘opportunities for Arsenal to include him in a summer swap deal’.
What do we think of an Ozil/Sissoko swap? Guys? Anyone?
Maybe Eden Hazard could get involved. Mind you, the Daily Mirror – much like everyone else – are pretty convinced he is off to Real Madrid.
They say that the ‘struggles’ Maurizio Sarri has faced at Stamford Bridge has convinced Real that it will be ‘even easier for them to poach’ Hazard at the end of the season.
The Belgian’s contract expires in summer 2020 and he has teased that a decision over his future has already been made. It seems increasingly unlikely that it will involve staying in London.
The same Mirror story does have some vaguely good news for Blues fans: Aaron Ramsey’s move to Juventus means they ‘could be handed a cut-price deal’ to sign Gonzalo Higuain permanently. Something about wages.
