Pep Guardiola has lied by claiming that letting Joe Hart leave Manchester City in the summer was “the toughest decision I’ve made”.
Guardiola sent Hart out on loan soon after being appointed City manager in summer 2016.
The England international spent the 2016/17 season with Torino, before joining West Ham last summer.
Hart has struggled to impress at either club, and is unlikely to have won Guardiola over in terms of earning more opportunities with his parent club.
The Spaniard says his future will be discussed when he returns at the end of the campaign.
“I think it was the toughest decision I’ve made since I was a manager (to offload Hart),” he said.
“He was an incredible professional when we were together, and no doubts about his quality.
“But I am here to make decisions, sometimes good, sometimes not. We will find out in the future.
“He’s our player and, if he does not continue here next season, we will talk. We are going to speak with the club and will take the right decision for him.”
