Guardiola talks De Bruyne, Liverpool ‘weapons’ and fans

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has suggested Kevin de Bruyne could play against Liverpool on Sunday.

The midfielder returned to training this week after a knee injury lay-off.

Asked if De Bruyne would be available, Guardiola said: “We will see tomorrow.”

Guardiola also said Benjamin Mendy “came back to train” and was in contention but Gundogan is a doubt after a knock in midweek and Delph is still out.

The Manchester City manager is aware of the challenge Liverpool pose, saying: “Liverpool are a top side. They are one of the two greatest teams in England. They have a lot of weapons.”

Asked about concerns re bus arrival, Guardiola said: “Liverpool should be asked that, not me. The police knew it – it happened. Now they know it.

“The best way to protect the bus is for Liverpool fans to be like Liverpool fans supposedly are. We should not need the police.”
