Pep Guardiola ‘tore into’ Leroy Sane in a ‘furious’ dressing-room dressing down at half-time of Manchester City’s FA Cup defeat to Wigan.

Premier League leaders City were stunned by League One Wigan last month, with Will Grigg scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory.

Guardiola was visibly angry during an ill-tempered game, and engaged in a touchline spat with Wigan boss Paul Cook before attempting to confront him in the tunnel at half-time.

Guardiola is reported to have carried his frustrations into the visiting dressing room, where he proceeded to lay into winger Sane.

The Daily Telegraph reports that City players were ‘left stunned’ as Guardiola blasted the German for ‘failing to pull his weight’ and ignoring specific tactical instructions.

Sane was substituted at half-time for Kyle Walker, with people in the corridors reportedly being able to hear Guardiola’s fury.

The 22-year-old retained his place in the starting line-up against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final however, indicating that he has earned his manager’s trust back.
