Matteo Guendouzi has labelled Mesut Ozil as Germany’s best-ever number ten as he departs Arsenal for Fenerbache.

Ozil initially joined Arsenal in 2013 for around £42.5m from Real Madrid. This deal made him the most expensive German footballer at the time.

He has gone onto make over 250 appearances for the Gunners in over seven years at the club. His first few years in the Premier League were highly successful, but his time at the club soured at the end.

Ozil has not featured much since Mikel Arteta took over as boss. The Spaniard left the midfielder out of Arsenal’s Premier League and Europa League squads for this season.

The German international is out of contract this summer, but he is set to conclude a move to Turkish outfit Fenerbache. Ozil flew to Turkey on Sunday to complete the transfer.

Guendouzi took to Twitter to wish his former Arsenal teammate the best for his future:

“Congratulations mi baby! How lucky is Fenerbahce to welcome the best No.10 in the history of Mannschaft (the German national team).

“It was an honour to play with you and share all those moments on and off the pitch. I wish you the best for this new chapter. I miss you, Bro.”
