Hargreaves, Wright disagree over PL top four predictions

Owen Hargreaves thinks Manchester United will finish inside the Premier League’s top four this season – but his fellow pundit Ian Wright disagreed.

The Red Devils missed the chance to move back into the Champions League spots when they lost 2-1 to Wolves at Molineux on Tuesday night.

Scott McTominay’s first United goal put the visitors ahead but Fred’s mistake allowed Diogo Jota to level in the first half and Ashley Young was sent off mid-way through the second half for two bookings in five minutes.

Before Chris Smalling put into his own net from close range with 13 minutes left to win it for the home side.

The result means United are still level on points with fourth-placed Tottenham, who play Crystal Palace on Wednesday night, while sixth-placed Chelsea are also in action.

That means Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s men could be sixth by the end of Wednesday, however Hargreaves is tipping them to claim a place in the top four.

“Before Manchester United’s loss to Wolves I would have said they would be in the top four for sure but that result changes everything,” Hargreaves told Premier League Productions.

“Tottenham I think will be alright but Arsenal I think will miss out. Their home form is exceptional but away from home they are poor.

“I still think United will sneak in with Spurs and Arsenal and Chelsea will miss out.”

When asked for his prediction, former Arsenal striker Wright disagreed with Hargreaves, adding: “I’m going Arsenal third and Tottenham fourth.”
