Harry Kane camp brief about £125m Man City bid

‘Sources close to’ Harry Kane have given extensive information to two trusted media outlets in the blame for this summer’s damaging saga is placed firmly at the door of Daniel Levy.
Kane’s camp have briefed the Daily Telegraph and the Daily Mail about a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ between their client and the Tottenham chairman that they believe means he should have accepted a bid from Manchester City this summer.
They now claim that City have lodged a £125m bid but that Levy is refusing to even engage with the Premier League champions.
Nobody likes Harry Kane, but does he actually care?
‘The striker believes he should be allowed to join Manchester City, wants to leave on good terms with his relationship with the fans being extremely important to him and has reiterated all of this in subsequent meetings with Levy. Kane feels that the board has failed to match his ambition and should negotiate.’
It’s unclear why Tottenham should ‘allow’ him to join Manchester City if Manchester City do not match an asking price that is believed to be north of £150m.
Kane’s camp are citing a meeting at the end of the 2019/20 season in which Levy apparently reassured Kane that he could leave in 2021 if Spurs did not win a trophy or qualify for the Champions League. In the end they did neither.
These new stories also address Kane’s apparent late return to training after his summer holidays, with the England captain apparently believing that Levy had given him permission to return late.
‘Kane believes he was offered an extended break by Levy but that there was a breakdown in communication and this was not relayed by the club’s football department or head coach Nuno Espirito Santo.’
He is obviously keen to underline that he will not be making a transfer request as it is already clear that he wants to leave, and will return to the pitch whenever he is needed by Tottenham.
He watched their impressive 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday from his television and heard the fans singing ‘are you watching Harry Kane?’ He was and now he is clearly hoping that this latest leak of information will persuade the fans that he should be allowed to leave their club, regardless of whether City meet his asking price.
