Bayern Munich are flailing in their bid to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Harry Kane is willing to ‘buy himself free’ from Tottenham in order to secure a move to Bayern Munich, according to reports in Germany.

Out of contract in less than 12 months, Kane is attracting interest from the German champions amidst reports he will not sign a new deal in north London.

Bayern are believed to have had two bids for the England captain rejected and are now preparing a third offer worth a total of €95million (£81.6million).

This is a very respectful offer considering Kane can leave as a free agent in 2024 and would also have his pick of clubs, putting Spurs in danger of losing their talisman to a Premier League rival.

Obviously, it is not that simple with someone like Daniel Levy, who apparently met with Bayern representatives in London over the weekend.

There is a “confidence” a deal can be agreed, Florian Plettenberg has claimed and German outlet BILD have provided an update on the situation.

Via Sport Witness, BILD claim Kane is so keen to make the move to Munich that he is willing to ‘buy himself free’.

This means that the 30-year-old would ‘give up a big part of his salary’ worth around £20m per season.

Doing so would go a long way to helping Bayern agree a fee with Spurs, though it would hardly be beneficial to Kane’s bank account.

Kane will likely be compensated by Bayern – who are ‘optimistic’ they will sign the striker – on a later date through bonuses if this is a method he decides to carry out.

Meanwhile, Bayern’s highest earner Sadio Mane has officially joined Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Nassr.

The 31-year-old Senegal forward spent just a single season in Germany having moved to Bayern from Liverpool last summer and now departs for a reported £34million.

Mane struggled for form and during a tough season he suffered an injury that ruled him out of the 2022 World Cup and was fined and suspended by Bayern after a training ground bust-up with team-mate Leroy Sane.

He has now completed a move to Saudi Arabia, where he will team up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo Brozovic at Al-Nassr, having also been linked with Al-Ahli and a reunion with former Liverpool team-mate Roberto Firmino.

Having first moved to England with Southampton, Mane switched to Anfield in 2016 and went on to score 120 goals in 269 appearances, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup and Club World Cup on Merseyside.

“We want to thank Sadio Mane for the past season,” Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said after the Bundesliga champions announced his departure.

“It certainly wasn’t an easy year for him, getting injured just before the World Cup and being unable to take part in it with Senegal, who he’d previously led to a first triumph at the Africa Cup of Nations and World Cup qualification.

“Because of his long lay-off, he also couldn’t have the impact at FC Bayern that we all and he himself had hoped for. That’s why we came to the joint decision that he’ll begin a new chapter in his career and make a new start at a different club. We wish him all the best and lots of success for the challenges ahead at Al-Nassr.”
