Hazard? Who creates the most Big Chances?

Date published: Wednesday 14th November 2018 8:36

We’ve already revealed which strikers have missed the most Big Chances, as defined by Opta as ‘a situation where a player should reasonably be expected to score’. But who is putting them on a plate? We have included those players who have created five or more…

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Everton)
Big chances created: 5
Chances created: 31
Assists: 2
Goals: 5
Goals directly involved in: 7

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)
Big chances created: 5
Chances created: 25
Assists: 3
Goals: 3
Goals directly involved in: 6

Mohamed Salah (Liverpool)
Big chances created: 5
Chances created: 24

Andrew Robertson (Liverpool)

Goals directly involved in: 3

Alexis Sanchez (Manchester United)

James Maddison (Leicester)

Kieran Trippier (Tottenham)
Big chances created: 6

3 David Silva (Man City)

Jose Holebas (Watford)
Big chances created: 7
Chances created: 21

Goals: 2
Goals directly involved in: 6

Callum Wilson (Bournemouth)
Big chances created: 7
Chances created: 18
Assists: 4
Goals: 6
Goals directly involved in: 10

We all knew David Silva is f*cking brilliant but few of us realised that so too is Jose Holebas. The form of Callum Wilson and Fraser has been a massive factor in Bournemouth’s splendid start and it might’ve been even better had Wilson not been quite so wasteful.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Big chances created: 9
Chances created: 32
Assists: 4
Goals: 7
Goals directly involved in: 11

Trying to kick lumps out of Hazard apparently isn’t having the desired effect. Unfortunately, Alvaro Morata seems to be on the end of a lot of his good work…

Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth)
Big chances created: 13
Chances created: 33
Assists: 6
Goals: 3
Goals directly involved in: 9

The smallest player in the Premier League is having the biggest creative impact after apparently being threatened with the axe by Eddie Howe. “He said my mindset had to change because if I didn’t, he would pick someone else over me,” revealed Fraser earlier this season and the pep talk seems to have worked. The comparison with Liverpool’s front three is looking less outlandish by the week.
