Henderson says Liverpool used ‘anger’ to beat City

Jordan Henderson believes Liverpool “channelled the anger” from their disappointing Capital One Cup final defeat and used it to down Manchester City in the league on Wednesday evening.

The Liverpool captain led his side to a comfortable 3-0 Premier League victory over City which lifted the Reds to eighth place and six points off the Champions League places.

Just three days previously Jurgen Klopp’s side were edged out in the League Cup final but Henderson reveals he and his team-mates didn’t have a problem bouncing back from the harsh penalty shootout defeat.

“We definitely channelled the anger,” he told Liverpoolfc.com post-match.

“We felt they took something from us at the weekend that maybe we deserved, but tonight we made sure that we took the three points.

“We knew that we had to bounce back from the weekend in very difficult circumstances with only three days between.

“Our focus was just solely on winning the game and I thought it was a brilliant performance as well.”
