‘Here we go!’ – European giants complete double raid on Tottenham, signing two players Postecoglou doesn’t rate
Tottenham Hotspur are set to offload midfielder Tanguy Ndombele despite the transfer window being closed in England, according to reports.
Ange Postecoglou has deemed the 26-year-old surplus to requirements at the London club, after he failed to impress the manager in pre-season.
Tottenham signed Ndombele from Lyon for £54m back in 2019 but he has never really lived up to his hefty price tag. He also earns an eye-watering £200,000 per week at Spurs, making him the club’s highest earner.
That is a hell of a lot of money to pay someone who hasn’t even been in a Tottenham match-day squad this season, so it’s no surprise that they are trying to get rid of him.
Ndombele spent last season on loan with Napoli and despite him playing a role in their Serie A title win, the Italian club have no interest in signing him permanently. And, of course, the Italian deadline has also passed now.
With that in mind, a move to Turkey, whose transfer window shuts on September 15, is on the verge of being agreed for the Frenchman.
A report from the Evening Standard claimed that Ndombele has been warming to the idea of joining Galatasaray, despite being initially apprehensive.

It now seems that Ndombele is set to join the European giants on a season-long loan, with the option to buy. That is according to reputed transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.
On Twitter, Romano wrote: “Tanguy Ndombele to Galatasaray, here we go! Agreement with Tottenham in place.
“Ndombele has already completed first part of medical tests and he’ll fly to Istanbul later today.”
Since joining Tottenham, Ndombele has made 91 appearances for the London club, scoring 10 goals and making nine assists in the process.
By joining Galatasaray, the 26-year-old will hope to reignite his once-promising career.
Interestingly though, he isn’t the only Tottenham player who will be completing a move to Galatasaray today.
As per a second tweet by Romano, Davinson Sanchez will also sign for the Turkish club, but on a permanent deal.
“Davinson Sánchez to Galatasaray will be permanent transfer,” Romano said, “But final details are still being ironed out now.”
The news will come as a boost to Daniel Levy, who has been trying to get unwanted players like Ndombele and Sanchez off the books all summer.
Spurs fans will be hoping that those exits will give them a little more cash to splash in the January transfer window.
