I will not stand in Schneiderlin’s way – Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has revealed that Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has asked to leave the club and will not stop him from going.

West Brom have made an offer reportedly worth £13million for the Frenchman who joined from Southampton for £25million in July 2015.

And, with Everton also understood to be interested, Mourinho insists he can’t stand in the way of a player that isn’t playing regularly.

“He’s a great professional, a fantastic boy, very honest, very open,” said Mourinho at a press conference on Friday.

“He opened his heart a couple of times, and my answer is simple – if he’s playing regularly with me, I have the right to say ‘no way’.

“If he’s not playing regularly then I have no right to say to a player ‘no’.

“So my answer was that if an offer is right and our board thinks that offer is a good offer in relation to the quality of a player like Morgan, then I would not stop him from going.”
