In-demand Dembele holds off on new Tottenham deal

Mousa Dembele has a “lot of interest” in his services and will hold off on signing a new deal at Tottenham, according to his agent.

The Belgium international has had a stellar season for Spurs as Mauricio Pochettino’s men finished third in the Premier League and were narrowly knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus.

Dembele is a huge favourite at Tottenham but the 30-year-old has been linked with a move to the Chinese Super League as he attempts to increase his salary.

The Telegraph report that Dembele wants a three-year deal on an increased wage in the region of £100,000-a-week.

And his agent Tom De Mul seemed to suggest that a string of good performances at the World Cup could see his client receive offers to move.

De Mul told Voetball Nieuws: “Mousa has another one year contract with Tottenham, he has played a fantastic season and there is a lot going on around him, there is a lot of interest inside and outside of Europe, we are waiting for the World Cup and I hope he plays in Russia, because he deserves that after such a peak season.

“For the moment Mousa will not sign.”
