Aubameyang has arguably been Arsenal’s best player this season having scored 20 goals in 32 games in all competitions.
But the Gabon international has just over a year left on his current deal and, as such, speculation over his future has heightened in recent months.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has previously urged the club to sit down with Aubameyang and discuss his contract but according to the Sunday Express, the player’s wage is causing problems in those talks making progress.
The newspaper claims that Aubameyang wants £300,000 per week – around 30 per cent more than his current pay packet – but the Gunners are unwilling to match that figure and could now look to sell up.
As for who could take the striker away from North London, Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move but the newspaper says that Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez is their number one target.
Therefore, should Inter sell Martinez to the LaLiga giants, they will have a sizeable transfer budget to work with and will move for Aubameyang if Arsenal’s talks with Aubameyang reach an impasse.
Arsenal sit ninth in the Premier League and face a battle to qualify for Europe next season if the current campaign resumes following the postponement.
