Arsenal have reportedly made Real Madrid playmaker Isco their prime tansfer target in January.

Mikel Arteta’s side – despite an impressive win over Chelsea on Boxing Day – have struggled in the Premier League this season and sit just six points above the relegation zone after 15 games.

One of the key issues has been Arsenal’s lack of creativity, and with Mesut Ozil frozen out, Arteta is desperate to add a playmaker to his ranks in the new year.

According to the Mirror, the Arsenal boss has made Isco his number one target and is ‘genuinely keen’ on signing the Spaniard on a half-season loan.

But there are issues standing in the way of the move, including his wages, which Real Madrid would likely have to supplement were he to move to the Emirates.

And reports in Spain complicate things further as it has been claimed Isco would rather continue playing in La Liga and move on loan to Sevilla.
