Branislav Ivanovic has agreed a new one-year deal at Chelsea, according to The Times.

Inter Milan and Fiorentina are both reported to have made a contract offer to the Serbian defender but he has decided to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Ivanovic struggled for form – with some suggesting that a lack of contract offer from Chelsea was a possible explanation – for the first half of the season but played 90 minutes as the Blues kept clean sheets in their last two Premier League fixtures.

The club have a policy of only issuing one-year contracts to players over 30, but it is believed that Ivanovic can trigger an extra year by playing a certain number of games next season.
