Manchester United have been 'patient' in talks over Sancho, and that might finally have paid off.

Manchester United have taken another step towards signing Jadon Sancho due to Borussia Dortmund ‘softening their stance’ during negotiations.

Manchester United have been in talks with Dortmund over the England forward for months, but have pressed ahead with their move since securing Champions League qualification.

Sky Sports suggest that discussions between the two clubs are ‘at an advanced stage’ and Manchester United have had success in persuading Dortmund into ‘accepting less money up front’.

That figure, according to The Independent is £60m, with the rest made up in instalments and add-ons totalling to a potential £120m. Miguel Delaney quotes a source suggesting that the deal could be done “by the end of the week”.

The Daily Telegraph say Manchester United will continue to be ‘patient’ despite Dortmund’s decision to set an August 10 deadline for the sale to be completed.

It is thought that personal terms between Manchester United and Sancho would be little more than a formality when a fee is finally agreed, the 20-year-old being lined up for a five-year contract on upwards of £200,000 a week.

Dortmund are believed to have already identified former Manchester United winger Memphis Depay as a possible Sancho replacement, with the Old Trafford club having included a clause in Dutchman’s January 2017 move to Lyon ensuring they would have to be informed in the event Lyon received a bid.

Manchester City would actually have to be contacted if Dortmund accept an offer for Sancho as part of the first-refusal option they themselves negotiated when he left England in August 2017.

Sancho has long been regarded as United’s priority target this summer, but the club also hope to sign a centre-half and central midfielder before the start of the next Premier League season in September.

One report has claimed that Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes could even join ‘in the next few days’.
