Jenas slams arrested Everton fan after missile throwing incident

Jermaine Jenas has slammed the Everton fan who threw a bottle at Aston Villa players celebrating Emi Buendia’s goal at Goodison Park.
The Toffees were beaten 1-0 by Villa on Saturday afternoon, after the Argentina playmaker’s first-half stoppage-time header.
Buendia and team-mate Matty Cash were struck by a bottle thrown by the Everton fans, however.

“Everton security staff and Merseyside Police identified the supporter using CCTV footage.
“Several objects were thrown towards the pitch following Aston Villa’s goal at the end of the first half, with one missile appearing to strike two opposition players.
“Investigations in conjunction with the police are ongoing, and the Club will issue bans to any fans identified throwing objects.”
On the incident, Aston Villa right-back Cash said: “It was crazy, it hit me straight in the head.
“It’s not nice but we got the three points, we’ll take that.
“It was a tough game to be fair. They threw everything forward in the last 15, 20 minutes. We said before the game we’ve got to deal with the horrible side of the game and we’ve done that really and picked up the points.”
During BT Sport’s coverage of the match, former Tottenham midfielder Jenas called the throwing of bottles at Goodison Park “disgusting” and urged the authorities to punish the culprits.
“It’s becoming too often in the Premier League now,” he said. “It’s disgusting. It’s going back to old times, the dark ages of football. Bottles and coins being thrown on to the pitch.
“There needs to be some serious punishments handed out to all the clubs behaving in this way.
“This is not just Everton Football Club. This has happened at various stadiums all season and they need to stamp it out. Whatever it may be, they need some punishments to stop it happening again.”
