Joe Cole claims Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang must leave Arsenal in search of Champions League football if he is to “cement himself as a top player”.

The Arsenal skipper has not played in Europe’s showcase competition since his switch to the Emirates in 2018.

The Gunners crashed out of the Europa League on Thursday – with Aubameyang taking the blame for the exit.

And BT Sport pundit Joe Cole feels now is the time for Aubameyang to follow his ambitions for Champions League football and move on.

“If I’m Aubameyang, I’d be looking out the door because he’s a player that needs to be playing at the very, very top level,” Cole said.

“He needs to be playing in the Champions League.

“He’s not played enough years in the Champions League to cement himself as a top, top player, which is what he actually is because his stats and his numbers add up with anyone.”

Arsenal are currently 10th in the Premier League table, eight points off Chelsea in fourth.
