Jordan suspects Newcastle will ‘overpay’ and ‘get their pants taken down’

Simon Jordan suspects Newcastle United will “get their pants taken down” in the transfer market as “everyone knows they have more money than God”.
The Magpies are deep in a relegation battle as they sit 19th in the Premier League. They are only two points adrift of safety but Burnley and Watford have games in hand.
Newcastle made their first January signing last week as they bought Kieran Trippier from La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
Newcastle have so much money and so little competence
They have also been linked with Lille’s Sven Botman, but that deal now looks to be off the table.
Newcastle have been dealt a blow as Callum Wilson has been ruled out for several weeks. To help to ease their troubles, they are said to be targeting Burnley’s Chris Wood.
Jordan has encouraged Newcastle to “pay the money” for their targets this month:
“I got into this debate with Martin Keown about not getting drawn into overpaying for everything. That’s what they’re going to get forced into doing because everyone knows they’ve got more money than God,” Jordan told talkSPORT.
“Newcastle have got a decision to make… if you want to buy your way out of this problem, and if that problem resolves by paying £40million for Botman then job done.
“I’m leaning more towards get on with it, get it done, pay the money.
“They’re going to get their pants taken down whichever way they want it. People know they’re in a room with a bag of money.”
Elsewhere, Warren Barton has called for his former club to sign Aaron Ramsey and Conor Coady:
“I think they would be aware to start looking in the market again. It’s not going to be cheap, they’re sweeping the player pool in Benfica, they’re looking around.
“I would go for him [Aaron Ramsey], I think he’s got a point to prove, when I spoke to Gary Speed a long time ago when he [Ramsey] was 21, Speedo said to me ‘He’s a player, don’t worry about him’.
“He has a great attitude, he works hard in training, he wants to be a leader, I think he’s got a driving force. It didn’t work in Italy, he can come back and I think he’ll have a bit of a chip on his shoulder.”
Barton added: “Here’s another player. Conor Coady, I look at someone like him – a leader, organised in the back, versatile.”
