‘You don’t know me!’ – Jorginho gives spiky response to White over Chelsea future question

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho claims he is just thinking about their next game after delivering a stern response when questioned by Jim White over his future.

The Italy international will be able to negotiate with foreign clubs from January with his contract at Stamford Bridge running out at the end of the season.

Todd Boehly completed his takeover of the club earlier this year and there is no sign of a new deal on the table for Jorginho.

His future remains unclear but asked by Jim White on talkSPORT if he wants to stay at Chelsea, the 31-year-old replied: “Of course I do, I love Chelsea. But this is a thing I’m not going to think about now. I need to think about winning games. Otherwise it’s a problem.

“I’ll focus game by game and then we’ll see what’s going to happen. But my mind is on Chelsea now and trying to win as many games as possible.”

White then said: “Every player wants to know their future. You’re no different.”

To which Jorginho bit back and insisted: “Maybe I am, you don’t know me! Maybe I don’t think now and I just think about the game on the 27th.”

Italy had to face North Macedonia in a play-off to qualify for the World Cup, which they lost 1-0 in extra-time as they missed out on going to Qatar.

And Jorginho admits watching the early stages of the tournament was tough for the Chelsea midfielder and his fellow Italians.

Jorginho added: “At the beginning I didn’t see much because it was a bit tough for me, personally.

“After that I just watched a few games in which my friends were playing, and I was cheering for them, but I didn’t know what time the game was or who was playing. I didn’t want to know much.

“Towards the end, the Jorginho who loves football came back and I wanted to watch the final games and the final itself was just unbelievable. It was so, so good.

“Those who enjoy football enjoy the thing, we just need to say thank you to them.”

When asked by White about the next Euros, Jorginho continued: “That has to be the target, hasn’t it?

“When you go down, it’s about how you try to go back up again and definitely we’re going to work hard to come strong for the Euros.”
