Jose Mourinho reacted to questions about the tunnel brawl that followed Manchester United’s defeat to Manchester City by saying the word ‘diversity’ several times.

The United manager was late to his own press conference, presumably so he could hear the words of adversary Pep Guardiola first.

The brawl was said to have begun when Mourinho took offence to the loudness of the music coming from the Manchester City dressing-room.

When asked about the brawl, Mourinho said: “This press conference is pre-Bournemouth, it is not post-Manchester City, that was already done and this press conference is pre-Bournemouth.

“I know but I keep saying this is pre-Bournemouth.”

When told Guardiola’s words, Mourinho said: “He says he says, I’m not here to comment on his words the only thing I can say is that for me was just a question of diversity, diversity in behaviours, diversity in education, just that and nothing more than that.”
