Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and defender Danny Rose were involved in a training ground argument on Sunday, according to reports.

Rose sat out the FA Cup win over Middlesbrough and the 0-0 draw at Watford on Saturday, with youngster Japhet Tanganga playing at left-back instead.

The 29-year-old recently said he would run his contract down at Spurs, which expires next summer, which could give reason for Mourinho to look at other options.

And Mourinho claimed after the match against Watford that Rose was missing because of a back problem.

However, the Daily Mail claims that Mourinho and Rose clashed in a warm-down session at the club’s training ground on Sunday with the left-back demanding to know why he was left out against the Hornets.

The newspaper adds that Rose believed ‘he was fit to play’ against Watford and ‘the two clashed with voices becoming raised and onlookers describing “a big tension in the air.”‘

Some Tottenham players were ‘unhappy’ at how Rose had dealt with the situation and that it was his fault things escalated.

The Daily Mail continues by saying that Mourinho took him to one side at training on Monday to clear the air.

After leaving him out against Watford, Mourinho was asked whether Rose still featured in his thinking, he replied: “Yeah, (he’s) part of my plans.”
