Tottenham supporters are not currently witnessing the best Christian Eriksen, according to Jose Mourinho.
Eriksen has been tipped to leave Spurs this month, although manager Mourinho has previously stated he doesn’t know if that will happen.
The 27-year-old doesn’t appear to want to sign a new deal with Tottenham, and will leave for nothing in the summer if he does not go in January.
Inter Milan’s supposed interest has been reported for several weeks, with speculation having been rife the Italian club want a cut-price deal for the Denmark international.
On Eriksen’s performances Mourinho told reporters: “He plays tomorrow. After that I have a match on Saturday and maybe he plays Saturday again. We are at our limits, we have injuries. Every player we have has to be a player for us.
“One thing is not to put in his best performance, and that is Eriksen and so many players around the world. For many reasons you have better seasons. If I think is this the best Eriksen, I have to say no. If you say the reasons, I am not an idiot.
“I’m not criticising the player. It’s normal in this situation that a player doesn’t play at his highest level.
“But he is helping us, and had positive contributions – like the game against Olympiakos. He gave us things, same against Norwich he had a very good performance. Against Liverpool, he did not have his best performance I agree.
“I don’t know if he’ll be here beyond January. I know his future but it’s not for me to speak about it.”
