Mourinho: ‘Martial has a place at Man United next season’

Jose Mourinho has met with Anthony Martial to tell the forward he has plans for the Frenchman this coming season.

Martial had been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Inter Milan interested in taking him on loan as part of a deal to bring Ivan Perisic to England.

Speaking after Wednesday night’s pre-season victory over Sampdoria in Dublin, Mourinho spoke of his desire to bring in one more signing before the deadline.

However, when asked about Martial’s immediate future with the club, he said: “Everybody’s in the plan — the plan is to have a good squad, not a good team, a good squad with options.

“And we have important players injured for a long time, they’re going to be back just by the end of the year, so our squad is not so big.”

The 21-year-old came on around the 60 minute mark on Wednesday night, and pitched in with an assist with less than ten minutes to go for Juan Mata’s winning goal.

Martial has impressed on more than one occasion during the summer, including games against Real Madrid and Valerenga.

“We need options and different players. Lukaku, Martial and Rashford are all different and we need everybody, and it’s going to be good.

“It’s going to be fun to choose the team for every match, according to the plan, the opponent, so the squad is good.” Mourinho stated.
