Jose Mourinho is interested in bringing Christian Eriksen back to Spurs in January, according to reports in Italy.

The playmaker joined Inter Milan from Tottenham in January for a £16.9m fee after running down his contract to six months.

He was expecting to make a big impact in Italy under manager Antonio Conte but has been limited to just four Serie A starts this season.

It now it looks like the Denmark international will leave Inter with both Spurs and Arsenal linked in recent weeks.

Speaking to Sky Sports just before Christmas, Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta revealed the news that Eriksen had been placed on the transfer list. He said: “Yes, I can confirm that Christian Eriksen is on the transfer list. He’s going leave in January.

“He’s not functional to our plans and he’s had difficulty here at Inter. I think it’s right that Christian goes away to find more space.”

And now Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sport Witness) claims that Mourinho ‘would accept’ Eriksen’s return to Spurs in the winter window.

It should be an easy transfer for Daniel Levy to pull off with the Italian newspaper adding that Tottenham are the only club in for Eriksen and that there are ‘no other suitors on the horizon’.

They continue by saying that the Eriksen transfer has become a ‘a market opportunity’ as Mourinho ‘winks’ at the 28-year-old.

Eriksen is ‘ready to pack his bags’ and the only worry left for Inter would be if they end up paying some of his €7.5m wages if he goes on loan.
