Juan Mata has seven sad words after Man Utd failure

Juan Mata had just seven words to say on his blog after a 1-1 draw at bottom club Huddersfield Town left Manchester United without Champions League football.

The Spaniard – who is out of contract this summer – was clearly devastated after United demonstrated just how much of a clear-out is needed at the club this summer.

He posted on his blog only these seven words: ‘You deserve better. No more words needed.’

Meanwhile Ashley Young, who ended the game at centre-half, said: “I can’t fault the effort and attitude. We applied ourselves, but we needed to help ourselves and we didn’t do that.

“I’m not sure what it is. It could be a number of things but right now we can’t put our finger on it.

“It’s a disappointment we can’t get into the top four. We’ll have to go away, think about how the season has gone and prepare to go again.

“Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But at times we haven’t been playing the way we should. We have to go away, take a break and come back fresh.

“But it’s a massive blow for a club like Manchester United (not to be in the Champions League).

“When you’re talking about United fighting for the top four, that’s not what you want to be talking about. You want to be higher up, fighting for titles.”
