Ex-Red predicts what Klopp will do once Liverpool win title

Former Liverpool midfielder Jason McAteer claims Jurgen Klopp would play the kids for the rest of the season if the Reds wrap up the Premier Legue in April.

Liverpool are closing in on their maiden Premier League title after a 2-1 win over Wolves puts them 16 points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.

They can win the title with nine more wins, meaning they can end the title race against City at the Etihad on April 4.

If City drop points, there’s a chance that Liverpool could win the title at the home of their arch rivals Everton on March 14.

And McAteer believes that – with the FA Cup and Champions League potentially still to play for – Klopp would play his youth players in the remaining league games if they had the title wrapped up.

“Going unbeaten would be nice, but as I say we’ve got some great kids coming through, as you saw against Everton in the FA Cup,” he said on beIN Sports.

“Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot, Adam Lewis is in there as well.

“I think Jurgen would love to give them some Premier League experience.

“If we were to win the league by the middle of April, he would let them go.”
