Klopp sack claim

It has been suggested that Jurgen Klopp will be under “huge pressure” at Liverpool if they fail to qualify for the Champions League this season.

Liverpool have been enduring a torrid season in 2022/23 after they came close to winning the Premier League and Champions League last term.

The Reds have already lost five times in the Premier League as they sit sixth in the Premier League after 17 games.

They are already out of the title race as they are 16 points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

Klopp’s side face a tough battle to qualify for the Champions League as they are seven points adrift of fourth-placed Man Utd.

Their situation has not been helped by them being beaten by rivals Arsenal and Man Utd in the early months of the season.

They have also had a lot of injury issues this campaign with Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and Arthur Melo currently among the players out of action.

Last week, they were beaten 3-1 by Brentford. During this game, Virgil van Dijk was subbed off at half-time due to injury and it has since been revealed that he will be unavailable for around a month.

Several of Liverpool’s players have underperformed this season and Van Dijk is one of their stars who is out-of-form.

Ex-Man Utd player Paul Parker has suggested that Van Dijk has been “terrible” this season and his decline is their “biggest issue”.

He has also indicated that Klopp’s job will be at risk if Liverpool do not finish in the top four.

“There is something wrong in Liverpool at the moment. And I think the biggest issue is Virgil van Dijk,” Parker told MyBettingSites.

“He is performing terribly and it looks like his knee still hurts and maybe he is not able to do the same things anymore because of the injury.

“Liverpool needs to qualify for the Champions League, otherwise Jurgen Klopp will be under huge pressure. And he created that monster himself because of his previous achievements.”

Parker has also claimed that Liverpool’s midfield “looks quite tired” and that Jota has been a “big loss” this season.

“Their midfield looks quite tired. Like they don’t have the same hunger or eagerness to win things anymore,” Parker added.

“I don’t think that Harvey Elliot is able to play as a central midfielder and they definitely need some signings to the midfield.

“But they are also lacking some quality in the front because Diogo Jota is out with an injury.

“I think he has been the biggest loss for them this season and even bigger than Sadio Mane.”

Jota has surpassed expectations since joining Liverpool from Wolves. He has grabbed 34 goals and 14 assists in 93 outings.
