Alvaro Morata says he has had “many problems in my mind” after ending his goal drought with a brace for Juventus in their 3-0 win over Inter in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Wednesday.

The former Real Madrid striker had not scored since October 4, prompting talk he was looking to leave Turin with Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool all credited with an interest in the 23-year-old target man.

The Spain man has now revealed the off-the-field problems which have plagued his form.

“The truth is this has been a pretty tough time for me, not just on the field but off it, as I had many problems in my mind,” Morata told Rai Sport.

“I have to leave it all behind me when I step on to the field. Big champions have had difficult moments, so of course I can too.

“I hope it’s behind me, this night has been very important for me. I once again thank my team-mates in this incredible team, as they always speak to me every day and give me the kind of support that is not the norm.

“The breakthrough arrived a little late, but at least it’s here. I’ve been working every day to find form and feel I am a different player to yesterday. A striker lives for goals and I hope to get many more.”
